Malta from a Japanese perspective

Basic information about Malta (money and prices)

f:id:Maltalover:20200724232421j:plainMalta seems expensive!

I’m sometimes told by a Japanese who knows Malta is in the Mediterranean.
From the Japanese perspective, it is general that prices at "Mediterranean resorts" are high.
But my feeling is that it is a little cheaper than Japan😊

Malta is not well known in Japan, but is popular as a resort island in Western countries.

By the way, Malta is a member of the EU, so the currency is the euro (€).

It's a little expensive when you have lunch or dinner by yourself.
However, the amount of food provided per person is higher than in Japan, so it may be cheaper in terms of price.
Three Japanese women, two pasta and one side dish are enough.

【Main price】
Pasta (with baguette) 10-15 €
Coffee in the cafe            3-5 €
Kinnie 500ml PET bottle (like a cola)  1.5€
Pastizzi (cheese or bean pie)         0.3-0.5 €
Cigarette 1 box             5-6 €
1 beer                 2-3 €
Daily necessities and groceries are slightly cheaper than Japan.
Imported brand products such as cosmetics and clothing are almost the same as in Japan.
Bus fare                2 € for 2 hours (1.5 € for off season)
Part-time job fee             5 € per hour
If the 5-star Westin Hotel is in the off-season, it will cost 20,000 to 35,000 yen per room per night *160 to 280 €
You can play the casino slot machine from 1 €.

🍺Good news for drinkers🍺
Malta had a happy hour. There are also in Japan.
Malta's Happy Hour comes with another glass of the same one you ask for. You can drink two for the price of one.
In Japan, the price of one cup is cheaper only during happy hour.

Unfortunately I don't get this benefit from alcohol allergies 😢

Do you know Japanese curry rice?
It is the most popular homemade food in Japan.
When I went to a supermarket with Japanese ingredients to buy Japanese curry stock, one box (for 8 people) cost 5.5 € (over 650 yen), so I gave up. In Japan, one box costs 1.6 € (200 yen).
Buying Japanese ingredients in Malta is very expensive.
